Barry Schofield is a TotalMD Dealer from Phoenix, AZ. He has been selling medical software for nearly 20 years, he has 10+ years in ASP/SaaS experience, and handles much of the hardware, IT support, and networking support for his clients.
We took a few minutes to sit down with Barry and pick his brain a little bit on all of the reasons why he is selling and supporting TotalMD for his client’s.
A: Active since 1998 when AltaPoint released their very first version.
A: The need to fill a gap in the market that AltaPoint isn’t filling. The gap is customer service and client interaction along with TotalMD’s willingness to create a product that is going to continue moving forward. It’s really more about TotalMD’s commitment to the product than the actual product itself with Jared Sherman’s willingness to work the product, stay current and move forward.
A: It’s been a very positive experience. The Staff at TotalMD always helps and gets back to me promptly with any of my questions. Customers feel that they’re with software where they’re listened to and no longer with a product that won’t fit their needs. Now with TotalMD, they feel they have a product that will keep moving forward and stay current.
A: Surprises that stopped me before were that the TotalMD conversion was only for demographic info and appointments. I was surprised there was no EHR or billing conversion. This stopped me from integrating and moving forward. A good surprise is that the product is stable and repeatable. No data is getting lost and the product is running very solid.
A: The data conversion that TotalMD wrote takes patient files and appointment info and integrates them. It doesn’t take EHR notes or alerts, individual special features, combined codes or billing information. Using the conversion TotalMD already wrote, along with Jared Sherman and TotalMD’s Technical Staff, we created a system to import all AltaPoint medical records including notes, alerts, custom fields, and other features. Converting billing data is the next project I’m working on.
A: They will be available through me eventually. If there is demand I will make them available. I created a set of tools that are rudimentary, but I could create a package if there is demand. I can currently do conversions for people at this time if there is demand.
A: Training wise, TotalMD made all its staff readily available, especially David Smith, to answer any questions, as well as take time to do custom training. Working with Nelson Phelps and David Smith I was able to find out the complete functionality of the product. Dave and Nelson were both available to do the first training and have always been available since to make sure all my questions are answered.
A: I would say that even if they’re not contemplating, I recommend contacting and involving TotalMD. The product is moving forward and it’s a quality product to sell, both TotalMD and DentiMax.
A: I’ve worked with David Arnett for many years. My intention has always been to get more involved with DentiMax and TotalMD’s product. I never in a position before to sell or get involved with actual sales. Now with the failings of the other software I’ve been working with, I’ve been pushed into getting involved with the TotalMD dealer program and I’m glad. I look forward to moving all my current clients to the TotalMD Product.
A special thanks to Barry Schofield for being the focus of our TotalMD Dealer Highlight.
